NEW WORK FOR 2 PIANOS

for Antoine, Françoise, Gilles & Grimaître
for Cataclysme Piano #4

A new composition for a rare festival.
Festival Cataclysme is one of the most unique and mind-bending festival I’ve ever experienced. Dreamed up by Géraldine Schenkel, it reimagines the piano in the most radical and utopian ways.

“Used as this society uses it, the piano is an arrogant instrument that excludes all those who don’t know about music,” said pianist François-René Duchâble.

Well, this festival proves quite the opposite

By subverting its bourgeois symbolism, it offers a wild range of completely bonkers events—installations, performances, concerts, listening lounges—all taking place at Théâtre du Galpon.
I have the honour of performing alongside my longtime partner-in-crime Antoine Françoise a two piano program. Together, we’ll play music by Conlon Nancarrow, Julia Wolfe, and Antoine himself.
We’ll also premiere my latest piece, composed specifically for this event.
A concert plenty of strangeness, noise, grooves, detours, and maybe a few moments of delicate beauty.
